Just 50 kilometers north
of Agra is the sacred city of Mathura. It is one of the favorite places for

1. Sri Krishna
Janmabhoomi Temple: This is the place where Lord Krishna is believed to have
been born. This is the most popular temple in all of Mathura. Not surprisingly,
this is a very sacred place for Hindus to worship. Janmashtami is the best time
to visit the temple as it is brimming with celebrations at that time of the
year.
2. Dwarkadheesh Temple:
This temple has an intricate architecture and is home to some marvellous
paintings. This holy temple was built in 1814 and is greatly revered as Lord
Krishna had moved to Dwarka and lived there until his last breath.
3. Gita Mandir: Also
popularly known as the Birla Mandir, this temple is located on the Vrindavan -
Mathura Road. The temple was built out sandstone and it has 18 chapters of the
holy book, Bhagavad Gita inscribed on its walls. Hence the name.
4. Iskcon Temple: A
magnificent temple in Vrindavan, Iskcon Temple is also known as Sri Sri Krishna
Balaram Mandir. The temple is constructed out of white marble and a strict
deity worship routine. The temple is open from 10 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 8:30
pm everyday.
